Focus on Strategies

This week, if all goes to plan, you will participate in at least TWO more FilterOff ‘speed dating’ sessions: Experience #4 and #5.
Before each session, review your strategies list. Choose a few strategies to focus on in each date that you have.

Keep practising. The more you practise, the better you become and then your confidence increases.

🎤 ON YOUR WAY TO BEING A ‘RAPPORT ROCKSTAR’

Continue to build your confidence in the FilterOff environment (free, low risk, convenient). When you attend your next social event, or speed dating event, things may feel different. You may notice that you feel better prepared, more confident. It’ll be easier to make conversation and connect with people. Being social will feel natural and easy because you’ve done this work.

LIKE DRIVING A CAR…

Perhaps you could compare this to learning to drive a car. You had an instructor and you spent time practising. It was slow and awkward at the beginning and over time, with more practise, driving becomes automatic and easier.

SPEED DATING STRATEGIES

As a refresher, here’s a list of 23 strategies I’ve mentioned so far throughout this course:

🧠 Switch off autopilot
🗨️ Skip boring questions
🗨️ Ask open-ended questions
👀 Read your matches’ bios before each conversation
🧠 Choose two features of their profile to enquire about
🗨️ Use personalised questions
🧠 Discover your matches’ likes and dislikes
🧠 Find things you have in common
🗨️ Share (short) stories
🧠 Be mindful of how long you are talking for
🗨️ Give sincere compliments
🗨️ Ask context related questions eg something in the background
👂 Practice active listening
⚡ Mirror energy
🗨️ Don’t ramble
🗨️ Get to the point
🗨️Offer specific answers (not too broad)
🧠 Know yourself eg likes and dislikes
🧠 Give intriguing answers to hook in your match
🧘🏻‍♂️Feeling nervous? Take some calming breaths
🔋Charge your phone before playing
🧠 Apply the T.A.A.M formula

YOU’VE GOT THIS!

This isn’t rocket science.
You’re already good at conversations with your family, friends and colleagues.
You’ve already got these skills to develop rapport; it’s just a matter of getting comfortable using them in a speed dating (short amount of time) scenario.

ACTION:
Think about which strategies you want to be focussing more on.
VIP Members can share in the VIP Facebook Group or at the VIP Power Hour session (2 x month).

In the next two lessons we’ll look closer at some of these strategies.
